Simplifying the Home Buyer's Journey with a Modern and Intuitive Platform
Min roll:
UX/UI Designer | Consultant
Period:
2022–2023
Envise is a Swedish company specialising in digitalisation and smart buildings, with a focus on optimising energy and resource use through IoT, data collection, and intelligent systems.
Their product, Homemaker, is a web-based interface where home buyers can select options for newly built properties, including both flats and houses. The platform offers 3D visualisations of the users' choices and features two distinct interfaces: one for end users (home buyers) and one for property managers.

Challenge
Although substantial portions of the system had already been developed, the product was perceived as complex and difficult to navigate. The main challenges were:
Hundreds of potential customisation options created significant cognitive load for users.
Navigation and structure needed simplification to make the process more intuitive.
The visual design lacked uniformity and needed enhancement to build a more cohesive brand.
Collaboration between product owners and the development team required clear processes and communication to implement improvements efficiently.
My Role & Work Process
Flow Analysis & Research
Conducted a detailed analysis of existing user flows to identify friction and obstacles.
Identified critical areas where users lost oversight and simplified interactions.
UX & UI Design
Developed strategies to manage the complexity of the optional process and made it more accessible.
Redesigned interfaces for both end users and property managers.
Created a consistent visual style across platforms to enhance brand identity.
Collaboration & Implementation
Worked closely with product owners and development teams to balance technical possibilities with user needs.
Ensured changes could be implemented efficiently without disrupting existing architecture.

Team
The team I was part of at Envise consisted of four developers with a team lead, where I held a dedicated UI/UX role. I maintained an ongoing dialogue with the entire team and worked closely with both developers and management to advance the design efforts.
Solutions & Highlights
Optimised User Journey: More intuitive navigation for homebuyers to choose from hundreds of options.
Enhanced Visual Identity: A consistent design style that gave Homemaker a clearer brand expression.
Simplified Complexity: A smoother interface for both customers and property managers.
Strengthened Collaboration: Improved communication flows between product owners and developers.
Results & Effects
🏡 Enhanced user experience – homebuyers were able to navigate and make decisions more quickly.
🎨 Consistent visual communication – strengthened the brand and delivered a more professional product.
⚡ More efficient implementation – closer collaboration between design and development led to smoother deliveries.
